Welcome to the Schuler and Moyer Family Tree. This is a project that I started working on about 8 years ago when I set out to create a photo genealogy of my family. My grandfather has a very large collection of photographs that go back as much as five generations and I thought it would be a great goal to put as many of the photographs together in a book. At the time I had little interest in family history but after about 30 days of playing with the family tree I was hooked and proceeded to spend over 4000 hours in the next two years doing family research.
Now I spend much of my time search historical archives and cemeteries and doing as much as I can to capture the full and accurate story of my family. It is my goal to find the people in my family who's story desire to be told and hope someday that my story will be worth researching some day. Military service, Pilgrim voyage, Presidential history, or just a good story worth researching and saving from the ash bin of history.
The picture of this church is one such story, it is the St Martin's Church, Joehlingen, Baden, Germany and was the home church of the Schuler and Schell family for hundreds of years. If not for the historical records of this church, we would know little about either of this family before 1850. I often think about the commitment of the priests and other church members that valued their history so much and care for it so we can benefit from all of that history today
