      (IV) Obediah Adams, fifth child of John and Deborah (Patridge) Adams, born in Medfield, 1689, married, April 24, 1716 Christian Sanford, a native of Mendon, daughter of Deacon Thomas Sanford, and lived in West Medway, on west side of Chicken Brook, three-fourths of a mile from the church. They were the parents of ten children. He died November 22, 1765. She died July 21, 1777, in the eightieth year of her age.

      Obidiah's house was on Adams Street, north side, about halfway between Winthrop
      and Summer Streets, a site now marked by some lilacs and bushes, and for many
      years was known as the Groehl place

      Obidiah-4 (John-3, Edward-2, Henry-1) Adams, born in Medfield in 1689, settled
      on Lot No. 17, West Section granted his grandfather Edward.
      His dwelling was on the north side of what is now Adams Street, about half-way
      between Winthrop and Summer Streets, and the place was owned by his descendants
      for over a century and a half.
      It was later known as the Groehl place, and only some lilacs and a cellar hole
      now remain to mark the site.
      In 1716, he married Christian Sanford of Mendon, sister of his brother Daniel's
      wife Sarah.
      Three of his sons settled in other towns, and his farm was divided between his
      sons Nathan and Stephen.
      He died in 1765, his widow in 1777.
